Altar New Orleans is a line of handmade clothing inspired by the creative spirit of New Orleans art and costuming. Acting as a kind of feminist alchemy, these luxurious garments beckon to the witch and the mystic in each of us. 

“Worship what you wear and transformation will ensue”, is Altar’s motto. In this new collection, Ryn worked with local painter Peter Hoffman to create the enchanting fabric patterns you see. Altar seeks to collaborate with other visual artists in New Orleans to create wearable artworks. Altar’s mission is to help support artists and offer an additional way of collecting their masterpieces.

Ryn works as a costumer and seamstress for films, performances, and fashion. She is also a visual artist, exhibiting her photography and video work throughout the region. Ryn is one of four members of the Crystal Efemmes, a collaborative performance group that creates immersive installations retelling myths from a feminist perspective.
